Paintings in Miniature
Group exhibition by members of Art in Miniature (AIM) Canberra

28 November - 24 December 2007
These contemporary miniatures by Canberra artists explore both traditional and abstract styles limited only by the imagination of each artist. A miniature painting must confrom to certain rules such as a maximum surface area and must show a degree of miniaturization of the subject. The history of paintings in miniature dates back to the 8th Century. It is the art form used by the French to decorate the 'Book of Hours' and monks to enhance the written word of the 'Book of Kells'.
